A BOHO-CHIC WEDDING AT AKIIN TULUM

You know a wedding was spectacular when it’s featured on Junebug Weddings. With the macrame touches, the tropical vibes and the stunning oceanfront ceremony, we aren’t surprised that Diana and Zach’s boho-chic wedding at Akiin Tulum was chosen. 

Our happy couple met on a dating app over 4 years ago, but their love story didn’t begin until many years later when the two finally met up and bonded over margaritas at a local Tex-Mex joint. So it’s only fitting that this fated couple had their destination wedding in Mexico. As soon as Zach and  Diana saw Akiin Tulum, they knew they had found their dream venue. Diana said “We fell in love with our venue Akiin because they let us customize the venue how we wanted it and allowed us to have a late night party until 1 am!”. 

Our newlyweds decided on a tropical boho-chic theme for their wedding which was carried through from their ceremony to their reception. Diana walked down her pampas grass lined aisle to say “I do” to the love of her life in front of the glistening Caribbean sea. She carried an elegant bouquet of cascading white orchids and deep green Monstera leaves. 

Aside from all the natural beauty of Tulum, what made their wedding ceremony extra special was that Zach’s brother was the officiant. Formerly a youth pastor, he brought a wholesome Christian aspect to the wedding, something that was very important to Diana and Zach. After a personalised hand-tying ceremony and the reading of their personal vows, it was time for the couple to enjoy a private photoshoot with Memory Box Photography.

While the happy couple were off capturing their special day on film, their guests could take a moment to reflect over a delicious Mexican coffee from the pop-up coffee bar or a cheeky exotic cocktail. 

In keeping with their boho-chic theme, Diana and Zach decided to host their reception in Akiin Tulum’s palapa restaurant. Macrame, dream catchers and twinkling lights hung over the whole restaurant and tropical leaves lined each and every table. As a little keepsake, each guest received a hand-painted maraca with their name and table number on it. 

After enjoying a delicious meal, it was time for the party to begin. As we mentioned earlier, being able to throw a huge party that lasted until 1am was very important to our couple. So, with Uno Audio Visual on hand to provide the LED dance floor and DJ, we were able to create the perfect night for Diana and Zach. They danced under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights well into the morning hours.

It was such a pleasure to be able to create a dream wedding for a couple that truly knew exactly what they wanted. Diana and Zach are such open and warm people, so to be able to pull all of the pieces of their wedding together was an honour.
