AKIIN TULUM
With its laid back, spiritual and natural feel, there couldn’t have been a more perfect venue for Jennifer and Brian’s big day than Akiin Tulum.
High school sweethearts Jennifer and Brian wanted to have an intimate wedding that showcased their unique and everlasting bond, putting a large emphasis on the strong spiritual connection the two of them shared. There were many aspects of their wedding that pushed boundaries and shunned the traditional, but that’s what made it so perfectly them.
After donning her boho-chic wedding dress and turquoise jewelry in the beautiful Villa Puerta Azul, our bride to be made her way to Akiin where the love of her life awaited her. Looking down the aisle with loving family and friends on each side, a strong triangular arch stood proudly, framing the paling blue sky and crashing turquoise sea behind. The perfect backdrop for a Tulum beach wedding.
Jennifer chose to walk down the aisle towards her groom alone and opted for a meaningful mantra to be played, rather than the traditional wedding march. Once she and Brian were soon hand in hand, with their feet firmly planted in the soft white sand, their close friend began the wedding ceremony. Having such a long-standing and important friend perform their spiritual ceremony definitely gave their wedding that wonderfully personal feeling Jennifer and Brian were hoping for.
After the copal had been burned and the heartfelt vows had been said, our loved up couple headed off for a photoshoot with Sea & Love Wedding Films while their elated guests strolled over to the coconut bar. Once everyone had enjoyed the healthy yet sneakily strong coconut cocktails, the wedding party were welcomed into the dining area.
From the palm leaf and fern filled bridal bouquet to the dining table decor, every aspect of Jennifer and Brian’s wedding had been carefully designed to give a lush boho vibe. Not one flower could be found in Akiin this day. Instead, the couple decided to work with a local merchant that created spectacular all-green runners and succulent centerpieces that the guests could take home.
After a delicious meal and a few cheeky shots, it was time to cut the cake. In true Jennifer and Brian style, their wedding cake was elegantly understated but with one significant twist. Instead of a traditional bride and groom topper, our newlyweds opted for gold text that read “Pistol & Fire”… a more perfect description of this couple couldn’t exist.
Once the cake was ceremoniously cut and everyone had tried a piece, the music started to play and the LED dance floor opened up. Not one member of the wedding party was seen sitting down, everyone got up and showed off their best dance moves long into the night.
