We’re all too familiar with the woes of rescheduled 2020 weddings due to the pandemic.  Many of our couples simply chose to postpone.  Others chose to elope.  More than anything, Alex and Ben wanted their wedding to be a fun, stress-free weekend surrounded by all the people who mean the most to them.  So they made the difficult decision to continue with their scheduled nuptials in a backyard wedding and postpone the destination wedding celebration until December 2021.

The party details for the big day continued as planned but as they communicated to their guests, “we expect that with another year to prepare, you better bring your A-game to the beach for some dancing and plenty of tequila! We know we will.”

Priorities are important when it comes to planning your wedding and for Alex and Ben, it was simple.  Their biggest priority for the Mexico celebrations was to have a relaxing, amazing weekend away to let loose and celebrate! The wedding style was classic with romantic undertones. The focus was on white colors, natural wood and green undertones.

Getting married at the Nizuc Resort worked perfectly for these vibes with the added privacy and intimate feel.  Nizuc is a luxurious surrounding that is close to everything Cancun has to offer. They chose to  extend the wedding celebrations to include a Welcome Dinner on the Beach, Rehearsal Dinner, and Sunday Farewell Brunch. The whole weekend was planned and allowed them to maximize the celebration with their guests.

The bride’s Sarah Steven dress paired perfectly with her Jimmy Choo’s and the heirloom jewelry borrowed from her grandmother and mother alike.  Alex wore her grandmother’s necklace and bracelet and her something blue was her mother’s aquamarine ring.  Ben’s dapper attire included an ivory dinner jacket from The Black Tux and Hugo Boss dress shoes.

Since they originally got ready together for their backyard ceremony in 2020, the first look at Nizuc was a special experience for the bride and groom!  It also allowed for some amazing wedding portraits to be taken prior to the ceremony and cocktail hour with their guests.  The ceremony site was covered in white flowers and an abundance of baby’s breath from Vanessa Jaimes Floral Design to add to the wedding color palette.

In line with their party priorities, the aspects they chose to splurge on were the music, photos and the drinks!  The photography provided by Moni Adri Fine Art Wedding Photography truly captured the party atmosphere to the elegant bridal photos to the minute details planned nearly 2 years in advance.  To add even more to the party atmosphere, flip flops were provided as favors for female guests to slip into and dance the night away.

While no one could have predicted what happened in 2020, Alex and Ben’s dream wedding celebrations wouldn’t have been complete without a weekend filled with love, friends, and a whole lot of tequila. Instead of lamenting what could have been and the adjustments made, it was an honor to help them celebrate their love story.  Their advice for planning in a pandemic? “Focus on being the moment together and having fun!”  We couldn’t agree more!
