KYLA & MIKE

Kyla + Mike’s wedding was absolutely stunning! But this wasn’t their first celebration… it was actually their second! The duo knew that their grandparents would be unable to make it to Mexico to celebrate with them, so they “secretly” eloped in Washington, DC. All while planning to throw the most epic party of their lifetime in Playa Del Carmen at the gorgeous beachfront Villa La Joy!
They knew that they wanted LOADS of color… but it took a bit to determine the exact direction to go. It was a collaborative effort between the couple, us, and the talented Hugo Martin!
Before I Do
Kyla is a photographer by trade and her vision was quite editorial (as well as iconic, stylish, and journalistic)!
Before the ceremony, she embraced her “bride” status and took LOADS of photos. Her poolside lounging (alone and with her ladies) are some of our favorite photos of the weekend!
The Wedding Ceremony:
Perhaps the most debated design of the day, the final result was spectacular! The vibrant, yet deep blue-hued florals framing the doorway arch could take your breath away! It was the only area we used this design style and monochromatic palette- it was some kind of magic!
The Wedding Reception:
Color for days! Nestled among the palm trees, a lively mix of oranges, yellows, purples, and blue POPPED with the greenery surround of the Villa.
The sweetheart table was draped in lush velvet, while wood-topped guest tables included a dynamic, layered design with mixed glassware, gold + white flatware, stoneware plates, and mixed color linen napkins.
Guests were told to dress to the nines in their favorite colorful hues. And wow, did it ever look gorgeous during cocktail hour. The monogrammed bar, disco balls, and comfy lounge areas were just some of the highlights.
Once the sun went down, the dance floor came alive, Kyla debuted her second look gown (olive green sequin!) and the drinks continued to flow.
Kyla + Mike, you were a blast to celebrate with! Wishing you both ALL the best!
